We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Masonry Apprentice. Gromex is a family-owned masonry company since 2003. We pride ourselves on great work culture, good people, and exceptional craftsmanship. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced masons to assist in the construction and repair of masonry structures, including brick, stone, and pavers.
Location: Palatine and North/Northwest Suburbs
Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Salary: Starting pay $25/hr

Responsibilities:
- Learning various tasks, such as mixing mortar to the correct consistency using different mixers and operating gas and electric powered brick saws, and other power tools
- Cleaning up and putting away all tools and equipment at the end of the work day as needed.
- Measure and cut materials as needed for various projects.
- Use masonry tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- No previous masonry experience required; training will be provided.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and to lift and carry heavy materials 80lb+
- Willingness to learn and grow in the masonry field.
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation to arrive at the job site on time.
- Safety boots required.
- Adherence to on-site safety rules
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding and ability of measuring and calculating
We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our Masonry team. Gromex is a family-owned masonry company since 2003. You will work alongside experienced masons to assist in the construction and repair of masonry structures, including brick, stone, and pavers.

Responsibilities:
- Preparing the workplace for bricklayers, including but not limited to setting up scaffolding to safety standards.
- Sorting and preparing materials including, but not limited to bricks, blocks, stone, and mortar.
- Cutting materials to required size using brick saws.
- Keeping the work site clean daily.
- Assisting bricklayers measure and lay bricks or stones in patterns or designs according to plans or specifications.
- Operating mortar mixers, forklifts, and skid steers and other equipment as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- 2 years of masonry/brick experience.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and lift and carry heavy materials 80lb+.
- Ability to gather, sort, and prepare materials like bricks, mortar, and tools, ensuring the bricklayer has everything within reach.

Responsibilities:
- Installation of various masonry materials according to specific patterns and designs, ensuring level, straight, and aligned installation.
- Building masonry fireplaces and chimneys.
- Various masonry restoration tasks, like tuckpointing, lintel replacement, and wall and chimney rebuild/repair.
- Building temporary wood forms for concrete chimney caps.
- Installation of brick and stone pavers.
- Willingness to work as a team and assist other team members as needed.
- Adhere to safety regulations and ensure a clean work environment.
- Work with other tradespeople to complete projects on time.
Requirements:
- 4 years of masonry/brick experience.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Good communication skills with coworkers.

Responsibilities:
- Lay bricks, blocks, stone, pavers, and other masonry materials according to blueprints and design specifications.
- Build and repair structures such as walls, fireplaces, chimneys, patios, and walkways.
- Mix and apply mortar, grout, and other bonding materials.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and local building codes, including proper scaffold setup and usage.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and team members.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and efficient condition.
- Oversee the work of bricklayers, apprentices, and laborers on-site, providing guidance and training.
- Organize daily tasks, assign roles, and ensure work is completed on time and to expectations.
- Manage logistics of tool and material storage, equipment, and scaffold use.
- Ensure timely completion of projects within budget.
- Keep the construction site organized, ensuring efficient workflow and safe storage of materials and equipment.
Requirements:
- 5 years of masonry experience (brick, stone, paving, etc.).
- Proven experience in managing a team and guiding other workers.
- In-depth knowledge of advanced masonry techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
- Excellent organizational skills to track project timelines, budgets, materials, and worker schedules.
- Knowledge of advanced bricklaying techniques, including masonry restoration and specialized materials.
- Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- In-depth understanding of safety standards, regulations, and building codes.
- Ability to assess workers’ skills and delegate tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle demanding tasks.
